Mera had become in
a classic destination as a trekking peak since long time.
The whole trip gathers the great views of the rododendrus forrest, the
dryness of high summits, and the spectacular Mera La and upper glaciers
transit experience of being climbing on a huge and friendly non technical
ice covered glacier, which does not requires any kind of previous skills,
as the few ones we will need are theached during the trip, prior to summit
day..
In few words, Mera is a great oportunity for all whom spect to have a
whole experience in just one trip.

Expedition Itinerary
Day 1: Members
should arrive to the airport, where an AEA Expeditions representative
shull be waiting for your convenience, to be shure you´ll get the
right hotel at the right time. During late afternoon we use to enjoy a
welcome brew with the whole group. After completing the equipment checks,
we enjoy a group "welcome" dinner in Mendoza and good night's sleep after
a long day of traveling..
Day 2: Early in the morning, we Flight to Lukla
Village, the well known town, where Sir Edmund Hillary and the foundation
he sponsors, built the airstrip which had help to the valley improovement
and life condittion of the locals.- Refuge accommodation.
Day 3: Trekking to Chutanga, surrounding the
forest which provides the wood for all the valley and Lukla.
Day 4: Trekking Karkitan.
Day 5: Trekking to Chatrafuk, Crossing
the hard pass of Jatra-La, during this day, we will preciate the rain
forest below the pass, and later on, the change of enviroment, at the
time we reach the top of the climb.
Day 6: Trekking to Tok Tok a seasonaly town for
timber manufacturers.
Day 7: Rest day.
Day 8: Trekking Kothe.
Day 9: Trekking to Tacnac refuge where we will
have the first sights of Mera Peak.
Day 10: Trekking to Khare, last village before
ascent, once getting here, we will spend the rest of the afternoon resting,
and having time to have a shower and wash up the gear. The town offers
quite good facilities, as good aple crumbles that use to be out of sale
after few trips arrived.
Day 11: Deserved rest day in the Mera Peak Base
Camp, short walk around there.
Day 12: Moving up to high camp, crossing Mera
La, and having a great views of surrounding peaks. The platform where
we will set the camp, is a rocky flat area surrounded for ice, which gaves
a feeling of being on a island.
Day 13: Summit day!!! Weather Permits, we will
depart early in the morning, using heardtorches, and if everything goes
right, before midday, we will be reaching the top.
We use to spend half an hour and return to high camp, to pack up all the
gear and return to Khare.
Day 14: Walk out to Kothe.
Day 15: Back to Chatrafuk.
Day 16: Cross Jatra-La and walk out to Karkitan.
Day 17: Back to Lukla, and celebrattion with
the sherpas, at the refuge. As tradittion, we will drink togeter a moderate
amount of Rakshi with Momos and all delicatessens they acceed to prepare,
with the whole team.
Day 18: Flight back to Kathmandú, celebrattion
dinner in town.
Day 19: Trip finishes.
