or not, who wants to enjoy a trip regardless their previous fit and in
a short time. The trail goes along the Inferior Horcones Glacier which
is all actually covered by rocks and sand due to the worldwide glacier
retraction.
Our destiny will be is The viewpoint, a panoramic hill from where
the best snapshots of the south face has been taken, and depending if
we're on time, we will arrive to Plaza Francia, 50 minutes ahead, used
as the base camp for whom try to ascend this face.
Trekking Itinerary
Day1: Members
should arrive to the airport, where an AEA Expeditions representative
shull be waiting for your convenience, to be shure you´ll get the
right hotel at the right time. During late afternoon we use to enjoy a
welcome brew with the whole group. After completing the equipment checks,
we enjoy a group "welcome" dinner in Mendoza and good night's sleep after
a long day of traveling.
Day2: Early in
the morning, a transfer will pick up all the group to bus up to comply
with the Aconcagua Park Permit gestation and tehm, in the same transfer
we bus to the Penitentes sky resort.
Day3: A transfer
will leave us at the rangers check point, to comply the rules, and get
the numbered rubish bags, to use in the protected area. Once we finished,
we start the walk, trekking on the well marked trail from there up to
the Confluence campsite, walking through the Horcones Valley. During the
walk, we will pass next to the Horcones Lagoon, crossing the "Seven years
in Tibet Bridge" and getting after less than four hours to the flat terrace
where we shull set camp, beeing received with a great afternoon meal.
Day4: Early in
the morning, we start the walk up to Trekking to " El Mirador" a panoramic
point where the best snapshots are taken, and if time and condittions
allows, we will walk up to Plaza Francia (4100m), the historic campsite
which has been used for the french expedition which has climbed the magnificent
South Face at 1954 .- Back to Confluence Camp for overnight. 8Hs.
Day5: Walk out
to Puente del Inca-Transfer to Mendoza.
